University of Michigan Aphasia Program (UMAP)
UMAP provides intensive, 3-5 week therapy programs catered to every individual and family.
Participants receive 24 hours of speech and language therapy each week, Monday through Friday. Therapy includes individual sessions, group sessions (in-house and community-based), and technology lab.
All therapy is provided by a team of experienced, certified speech-language pathologists, is evidence-based, and encompasses the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia. Functional goals are designed for each individual with aphasia. Music therapy, caregiver support groups, and recreational activities are also offered through the program.
UMAP, established in 1947, has been providing intensive therapy to individuals with aphasia for over 70 years, being the longest standing intensive aphasia program in the country.
