If you or a loved one has experienced a brain injury, stroke, or concussion, there is a place to go for affordable continued rehabilitation, education, support, and a community that understands.

Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery provides services designed to help improve the quality of life for acquired brain injury survivors and their families in Marin, Sonoma, and the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a nonprofit, post-acute therapeutic center offering an array of affordable rehabilitative and supportive services designed to help individuals achieve their maximum level of potential and independence.

Below are just a few of the services Schurig Center provides:

Aphasia Communication Group
This 10-week program, facilitated by a licensed speech therapist, provides the opportunity for individuals who have experienced a stroke or other neurological impairment to practice and develop communication and cognitive skills in a supportive environment. Each participant will be evaluated to assess his or her unique needs and to set personal goals. Topics include: engaging in conversation, body language, communication strategies, listening skills, connections with friends, family, and your community.For current cost and schedule, visit SchurigCenter.org.

Support Groups for Adults Living with Brain Injury
This support group is designed to serve adults with any form of acquired brain injury. Coping strategies are identified and practiced. Topics covered include: handling emotions and impulses, improving memory and focus, creating a daily routine and schedule, managing stress, increase problem-solving ability, accessing resources, improving communication skills, learning about the brain. Family and Caregiver Support Group
At Schurig Center, we recognize the enormous pressures and risks of family caregiving…burnout, compromised health, depression and depletion of financial resources. This is a daily reality for millions of American families and it poses a great strain on the caregiver, many of whom are struggling to balance work and family responsibilities. This group provides a supportive, educational environment to enhance the caregiver’s and family members’ understanding of the cognitive, emotional and life changes resulting from a brain injury.
