The mission of the Grammar in Aphasia & Bilingualism (GAB) Lab (Director: Danielle Fahey, Ph.D.) at the University of Montana is to investigate how the brain supports grammar. Our research investigates grammar processing by healthy adults who speak one language (monolinguals) or more than one language (bilinguals). We also investigate grammar processing in people with aphasia. Grammar deficits in aphasia may be called agrammatism (errors by omission) or paragrammatism (errors by mismatch).
