One Aphasia Action is a set of small, actionable activities you can do from home that will help you retain speech progress.

Photos trigger conversation. Pick up a photo and use it to practice speech today. Name the people, objects, or location of the picture. Try to recall the year. Tell a story that goes with the photo. If you don’t have someone in your home, hold the photo up to a video camera and talk about it on a call via Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime so you can practice speech while both enjoying the photo. If you feel inspired, move on to several more and see if you can list similarities or differences with the first photo.

You can find all of the One Aphasia Action activities on this list. This works best if you start on Day 1 and work at your own pace, even if you’re finding this project long after it has started. Try every activity, even if you only do it once. Keep doing the activities you like, repeating them the next day along with the new activity, and drop the ones that don’t work for you.
