Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder that impairs a person’s ability to process language, but does not affect intelligence. In addition to the impairment or inability to speak or understand speech, most people with aphasia experience difficulty reading and writing.
There are more than 1 million people with aphasia in the United States who are in need of understanding. Support, from individuals such as yourself, is indispensable to the National Aphasia Association in its work to promote public awareness about aphasia. By your support, you will help thousands of families better cope with this devastating disorder. Many of these families face severe economic hardship because of aphasia, so the NAA provides its information at no cost. When making your gift, please be as generous as you can so that the NAA can continue to help all of those who need it.
